Vicki Penfold's Bio

Born in 1972, Vicki Penfold is a South African entrepeneur who made Cape Town her home after leaving her native Zimbabwe in 2001 due to escalating political violence. Since then she has had 2 boys (Hugo 7 & Todd 3) and started the award winning eco-friendly nappy company Bio-Baba. Following a personal tragedy in 2004 when her brother was killed in the Asian tsunami, Vicki began to explore the visual arts at Debbie Field's Art Studio as a way of coming to terms with her grief. Her work reflects an introspective streak which breaches between realms of being; sometimes here and now, sometimes not. Her work in oils and multi-media is bold and energetic and reflects her deep love for the animals and people of Africa. Vicki's recent exhibitions include "She is the Masterpiece" September 2009 and "Interesting Places" March 2010. She is a prolific crafter and lover of slow food and garagiste wine.
